MODERN CLASSIC HOUSE
THE DESIGN BRIEF
The project aimed to design a Modern Classic Home for a young couple who loved hosting intimate gatherings with friends and family. Their appreciation for classic paneled walls and elegant furniture inspired a design that balances timeless sophistication with contemporary minimalism. Working within a limited budget, the design strategically replaced elaborate wall paneling with subtle paneled details incorporated into the furniture. The layout was tailored to suit the couple’s lifestyle, including a dedicated baking area for the client’s wife, who is an avid baker, seamlessly integrated into the dining space. The living and dining areas were designed to feel cozy and inviting, while the master suite was reconfigured to include a spacious walk-in wardrobe by merging an unused bedroom, enhancing both functionality and openness.

THE PLAN & THEME
The Modern Classic theme of this home is characterized by a harmonious blend of sleek contemporary lines and timeless classic elements. Minimalistic design choices are paired with subtle classical touches, creating a space that feels sophisticated yet warm and livable. The furniture features paneled details, compensating for the absence of wall paneling due to budget constraints. A monochromatic palette dominates the main living spaces, with soft neutral furnishings that evoke a sense of calm and comfort. In contrast, dark wooden dining and center tables add depth and character to the otherwise minimal space. The master suite follows an all-white theme to maximize the sense of space and light, resulting in an elegant and timeless look. Vibrant contrasts are introduced through red decor elements in the walk-in wardrobe and shades of blue in the bedroom, adding visual interest without disrupting the overall harmony.

THEME
PU painted panels on the furniture, Veneer polished in matte finish on the surface tops and skirting, shades of blue upholstery for the headboard and study chair, metallic bedding and curtains, silver metallic knobs and handles.

"We first met Ria during a consultation with Livspace just before Covid struck the world and everyone was disconnected. But she stuck with us. She listened attentively to our needs and preferences, and presented us with a design concept that exceeded our expectations. Her attention to detail and project management skills ensured a seamless execution even during the challenging times of Covid. From the initial consultation to the final reveal, it was a pleasure to work with her. She has a unique ability to balance aesthetics with functionality, resulting in a home that's both stunning and livable. We can't recommend her highly enough. Her unique ability to manage the crazy mood of all the family members during design finalization is a great plus plus."
